Pura Vida

So just let me tell you how great this trip is. It is day 3 and we have already done so much. Jenna and I bought a Fish surfboard and are loving the waves it is kind of steep compared to California but I am getting used to it. The people are really cool and the food is great, we are staying in a town of about 150 people called Dominical it is south central. We are sleeping for about 15 us dollars a night and we have been living on arroz y frijoles (rice and beans) every day and the fruit is amazing. The avocados are really good as well and cheap like .50 each. We are going to try to go and find a new place to stay a house with a kitchen so we can cook our own food even though it is not expensive we want to eat cheaper. tomorrow we are going to rent scooters for the day and drive more south to Uvita and other places along the coast.

WOW! Are those beautiful skies, or what? All of the scenery you have shown us on your first post from Costa Rica is wonderful. Keep that new Fish Board waxed, and please do watch for sharks! Have fun!

Trey and Jenna, Cathy said you need to try the peepas frias (not sure of the spelling) but it is the green coconuts they sell on the side of the road and you drink the milk, more like water she said they are fantastic!

I have been talking to my friend who has spent a lot of time in Costa Rica. She said her favorite drink is Fresco de Frutas. it is basically a fresh fruit salad floating on a base of kola and water. Kola is a peruvian soft drink served widely in Costa Rica. She said it is delicious and refreshing. She loves fried plantains and said it is quite cheap to order. She said if you eat where the locals do, it usually means the food is tasty and trustworthy. If you are doing your own cooking the best place to buy fresh food are the Saturday morning street markets. Perhaps you have already discovered all of this.
